For a savory punch, the Spicy Curry Pan features a rich vegetable curry filling wrapped in soft, golden bread that’s satisfying without overwhelming. Traditional favorites like the Azuki An-Pan, gently sweetened with red bean paste, and the delightfully flaky Strawberry Milk Cream Croissant exemplify the bakery’s ability to merge delicate textures with subtle yet distinct Japanese flavors.

One thing I know about Japanese bakeries, they know how to make light pastries that aren't too over-filling, incredibly delicious tasting, and just enough to satisfy a craving. Parking: This spot is located in Downtown Anaheim. Good luck finding street parking. Luckily they're located right next to a garage parking structure. Free parking structure! Ambiance/Environment: I visited on a Saturday afternoon, and they were poppin! There was a long line outside the bakery, but it moved pretty quick. I noticed there were two cashiers. If you're just ordering drinks, you can order from the register to the left. There's usually no line at this register. If you're ordering pastries and drinks, then you'd wait in line to order at the register to the right. The outdoor decor is cute. The have a small, tight space inside. No indoor seating. Quick grab-n-go only. Service: The workers were quick and efficient. Thank you to one of the workers that complimented my phone case. Pastries and drinks: In order to get the cute box, you have to get 6 or more pastries. It was tempting to order one of everything. The pastries are displayed behind a glass and labeled with prices. I got the Strawberry Croissant, Kobo Kuma, Cookie Salt & Butter, S'mores Danish, Hot Dog Panini, and Matcha Cream Stick Bun. I also ordered the Matcha Sea Salt Cold Brew. This is a caramel cold brew topped with matcha sea salt foam. They don’t offer straws, so make sure to sip! The foam paired well with the cold brew; it wasn’t too sweet and the matcha flavor came through. The cold brew was surprisingly creamy and slightly sweetened from the caramel. All their pastries are made with Hokkaido flour, additive & preservative free. Their breads are definitely light and not too heavy. Highly recommend their most popular pastry - Kobo Kuma! The vanilla cream isn’t sweet at all. The strawberry croissant was fresh. The hot dog panini tasted as expected; nothing special. The cookie salt & butter was delicious, but not sure what exactly made it “cookie” bc I didn’t taste anything related to cookie lol. The matcha cream stick bun was my second fav. The matcha cream is sooo good! The s’mores danish was probably the sweetest thing out of everything. It had chocolate filling and a torched marshmallow on top. Pricing: I think their prices are decently average. Perfect for a light dessert or breakfast on-the-go. I really enjoyed their coffee and will be back to try their matcha and other pastries!

You might have to wait a bit, but totally worth it! The bread is super soft and so good. Only downside — it doesn’t taste the same the next day, so make sure to eat it fresh! The drinks were all pretty good too.

Popular Restaurant in Anaheim — Okayama Kobo Bakery Café Absolutely amazing! This place is top-notch when it comes to quality and consistency. No matter what type of bakery you compare it to, Okayama Kobo truly stands out. Their bread and pastries are incredibly fresh, soft, and flavorful. (I say “most” because I haven’t tried everything yet — but from what I’ve had, everything’s been excellent!) ⸻ Location & Parking Okayama Kobo is located on W Center Street Promenade near S Lemon St, right next to The Barber Shop and Lazy Bird. Just a few doors down, you’ll find Shin-Sen-Gumi. Parking is super convenient — there’s a garage right behind the bakery, plenty of street parking with 90-minute green zones, and several open stalls around the area. ⸻ What to Try The shop layout is split into two sides — the right side is where you’ll find all the bread and pastries, while the left side serves drinks. Both sides connect in the middle, making it easy to browse. Some of my favorites include: • Sunrise & Matcha Sunrise • Salt & Butter Roll • Kobo Kuma • Strawberry Cream Croissant • Curry Pan And don’t miss their Kobo-Jicha Latte — it’s smooth, fragrant, and pairs perfectly with any pastry! ⸻ Service & Vibes The staff here are always friendly and super helpful. Despite the long lines (which often stretch a few shops away, especially during weekends or lunchtime), the service stays efficient and polite. The atmosphere feels warm, inviting, and full of that irresistible bakery aroma. ⸻ Final Thoughts I fell in love with this bakery on my first visit — and since then, I’ve been a regular. Whether you’re here for a quick pastry run, a cozy drink, or to pick up a box of goodies for friends, Okayama Kobo never disappoints. Highly recommended!

Absolutely love this cafe, it's so cute and aesthetically pleasing to the eyes. The pastry were good and I loved their theme was on point for the holidays with their bread design. The matcha with banana cream was also good as well. Staff were nice and friendly and so very attentive! I do want to mention that there is a line when you get there but it moves pretty quick and you might have to ask for the cute box that they have!

I enjoyed coming to this bakery. Roughly waited about 10-15 minutes in line, but it’s all worth it! I ordered the original sunrise and salt bread, definitely salt bread for the win. If you have a furry friend, they offer dog treats as well which my dog loved! I also tried their limited time seasonal pumpkin drink and it was delicious. The shop itself is super cute and staff were extremely welcoming and kind!

Def try to get here early when they open. We arrived around 1030/11a and there was a long line . I think it took about 20 min to order the breads. Once you get to the cashier to pay for your bread, they’ll ask if you want a drink too, which you’ll pay for at the same time. But you’ll have to wait additionally for the drink to be made. I think we waited another 20 min or so for it to be ready. There’s outdoor seating but not a lot of umbrellas to protect you from sun so we took our food to a nearby seating area that had huge umbrellas. The breads were so good and soft. They had run out of a few things I wanted to try (plain salt butter roll and curry pan) and I didn’t wanna wait 20+ min for a fresh batch. Next time ! The breads we ordered were : japanini, matcha mochi red bean bun, everything seasoning salt butter roll, cookie salt butter roll, sunrise, matcha sunrise, honey croissant and cinnamon roll. Everything very good ! Comes in a cute box too Their drinks were nothing special. We got the seasonal pumpkin latte and regular matcha latte. I didn’t realize the matcha latte would be sweetened - I think it was some sort of vanilla syrup (it reminded me of vanilla bean ice cream slightly). I couldn’t taste ANY matcha. Bc their drinks weren’t impressive, I would skip the additional ~20 min wait. Their merch was super cute.

We visited Okayama Kobo on a Sunday 1 hour before closing. Although it was busy, the line moved quickly and the bakery case was well stocked and fresh bread was still coming out from the ovens. We ordered a curry pan, chocolate emoji bun (dark chocolate and vanilla cream), banana creme matcha latte, and kobo-jicha latte (hojicha latte). Both of the breads were fresh, warm, and tasty. I really disliked her banana bread matcha latte - the banana foam had an artificial taste to it. However the kobo-jicha latte was good. I would stop by to the other breads, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
